Sharing stories of hope: St Anns Hospice

St Ann’s Hospice has been a client of ours since 2019, so when we heard they were building a new and improved site (right next door to the old one!) we were super excited to be involved. Like a lot of our clients, St Ann’s is a charity that relies heavily on fundraising and donations and one of the best ways to communicate their request for help is through video content, and that’s where we come in!

The contributors of this campaign were actors Lee Boardman and Jennifer James. Lee’s sister, Suzy, was cared for and died at the hospice. They have both kindly agreed to be the ambassadors for this campaign. Ben went along to the current St Ann’s Hospice to film the video. The couple shared their story with us over a half hour long interview going in-depth as to how St Ann’s had been a saving grace for both them and Suzy. The conversation was personal, emotional and a powerful commentary as to why St Ann’s deserves this new hospice. The finished video had to be under five minutes in order to have impact on digital platforms. Cutting down a great interview is never easy, and even harder when there’s so much emotion intertwined in each sentence. After watching the interview through a few times, I managed to consolidate the main points into a four-minute video without losing essential emotion and passion from the contributors.

The video came out really well and and we’re excited to see the impact it will have on the campaign. Both the couple and the St Ann’s team were thrilled with the outcome and thought it communicated the message perfectly. Lee’s direct response to the video was  “Wow. It’s taken my breath away. Thank you.” Which is never a bad thing to hear, but particularly when this topic is so close to his heart.
