This has been a year of change for us, including the difficult decision to downsize from three permanent staff to just one. Thankfully, that’s not stopped us from making an impact. We’ve just renewed our B Corp™ status for a third year, and we’re pleased to report that it’s started making a positive difference to our finances as well as helping us demonstrate the good we do for people and planet.
We make good video that does good. For people, platforms and the planet.
Over the past year, here’s what we’ve achieved in each of the three areas that make up the Studio 91 Manifesto.
Good for people
✋ 87 volunteer hours given to good causes
💸 £974 cash donations to charity
We continued our commitment to giving each staff member one paid volunteering day per month. We’re also really proud to have supported Hannah Cox’s Project Salt Run, with £100 towards the project costs and £500 to the four charity partners (ClientEarth, 1% for the Planet, Big Change and Frank Water). In a year where finances have been shaky at times, we believe it’s so important to stand our ground and support projects with lasting impact.
Good for platforms
🫶 73% of turnover from projects with a specific social or environmental purpose
“Good for platforms” means putting wholesome, positive content out there. Not simply contributing to the toxic noise that makes up most of the internet. All our content should pass that test, but here we’ve specifically measured the percentage of our income that came from projects with a clear purpose-driven focus. Think charity comms, educational content, the arts, and marketing content for B Corp businesses. This percentage has increased for the third year running, which is partly due to the decision to downsize: reduced overheads and reduced capacity means more freedom to pick and choose the most values-aligned projects.
Good for the planet
☁ 34% lower CO₂e
Compared to our baseline year (2021-22) – see full figures here
🌍 £874 donated to planet-friendly causes
£874 monetary donations, plus £5,400 in-kind
We’ve just finished our fifth year as a 1% for the Planet member. See Ben’s recent LinkedIn post for why 1FTP is such a great option for eco-conscious micro businesses.
We were seriously proud to deliver Peat on Earth, our collaboration with Malaysian company Factual TV, funded by the British Council’s Connections Through Culture programme. I spent two days filming in Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s Foulshaw Moss with local poet Matt Sowerby, while our Malaysian counterparts did the same in a peat forest near Kuala Lumpur. The result was a suite of 10 spoken word films, showcased over Summer 2025 at exhibitions in both countries.
Our emissions have decreased by 35% year-on-year and by 34% compared to our baseline. Last year was slightly higher than baseline, which was mainly attributed to a change in the carbon calculation tool we were using. To have reduced our year-on-year emissions so dramatically, using the same calculator, demonstrates that we’re moving in the right direction.
Our carbon intensity now sits at 43.58 tonnes per $M revenue. This is 27% lower than our baseline. We are continuing to partner with ON A MISSION to support tree planting projects equivalent to 150% of our emissions. We can’t fix everything by offsetting, but it’s a start.
So what?
We want to keep pushing to be the best we can be: making good work, doing good, leaving this place better than we found it. Hopefully this impact report gives you a sense of where we’re up to on that journey, and inspires you to take things further where you are.
If you have any questions at all about anything in this report, please drop us a line – we’d love to chat about it.
