Fundraising film with a sprinkle of Christmas magic

We’ve done a lot of work with Moya Cole Hospice over the years, although until a few weeks ago they had a different name: St Ann’s. As they prepare to open their shiny new building in Heald Green, they’ve rebranded and taken the name of their pioneering founder, Dr Moya Cole OBE. We’re so pleased to unveil the first piece of work we’ve done for them since the name change, for their festive fundraising campaign Give the Gift of Care.

Jamie, Nat and I spent a day in October filming different scenes at Moya Cole’s Little Hulton site. The idea was to show, without dialogue, the different types of care that go on at the hospice over the holiday season – from Christmas-themed activities to physio appointments and talking therapies. Whatever the patient and their family need, the hospice team deliver it with care, passion and a smile.

The scenes featured staff, volunteers and a brilliant group of actors. Mint Casting very generously provided their services free of charge, and their talented artists were a real joy to direct. The client wanted to see positivity throughout, because that’s what Moya Cole Hospice is really like, despite the tough situations they see every day.

Working with Ben and his team at Studio 91 was brilliant from start to finish. Our shoot day ran smoothly with the team being extremely professional, friendly and experienced. They were able to offer excellent creative direction when needed. As a result, we have ended up with an emotive, clear piece of work that perfectly captures the essence of our Give the Gift of Care Christmas appeal.

The original brief was simply to edit the scenes together and end on a simple logo. But I thought it could be fun to create a sparkle graphic that would fly through the scenes, tying the film together and bringing a touch of Christmas magic. The hospice team loved it, and I’m really pleased with the end result.

Time and time again, as we’ve worked with the hospice, we’ve seen first-hand how their incredible team goes above and beyond to help people live well and die well. None more so than on special occasions like Christmas. Please consider donating to their campaign to help the hospice provide outstanding care to the people of Greater Manchester.
